• Cannot edit or delete user

Hello. Trying to edit or delete a user results in this error:

    'Cannot open file d:\sbbs\data\user/user.dat'

I'm guessing that forward slash has something to do with the problem, as the file does exist. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

    Thanks.

Well, I gave full permissions to 'Everyone' for all d:\sbbs files/folders and that seemed to fix it, so I guess it was not the forward slash.

No, the forward slash is not a problem. What program are you using to try and edit or delete a user and what version of that program?

I was using the Synchronet Control Panel. Then I selected List Users from the menu and went from there.
In the meantime, I gave full permissions to 'Everyone' for all d:\sbbs files/folders and that seemed to fix it! This install was zipped and copied over from an install on another system so I’m not surprised it ended up being a permissions problem. The reason I copied over the install from the other system is that I could not for the life of me figure out how to export/import all of my File Area files and I didn't want to go through the tedium of using the addfiles utility one-by-one to recreate what I had in my old install.

yes... if you're not on a posix style system, then you would probably have to edit the script to change it.

Okay, that executes useredit.exe. I'm guessing the latest version. The reason I asked is because there are multiple Synchronet user editors and methods to delete a user account.

In the meantime, I gave full permissions to 'Everyone' for all d:\sbbs files/folders and that seemed to fix it! Makes fine sense.

Windows can generally use forward slashes programmatically
    interchangeably with back-slashes.

The only real difference is auto-complete on tab in a command prompt.

It's often easier to just normalize on forward slashes in code for that
matter if you're working on something that works on Windows and other environments...
